About revolutioniseSPORT

revolutioniseSPORT is an online, cloud-based, end-to-end platform for sporting and community organisations. The core of the platform is driven by player memberships and supports online registrations, finance and invoicing, team entries, and managing attendance for competitions, events, and training. This functionality is combined with administrative capabilities such as recording incidents and injuries, tracking tasks, and managing meeting minutes and action items.

Founded in 2012, the organisation now serves 13,500 sporting clubs, 211 state and national sporting organisations – more than all other vendors within Australia combined. Their reach extends into New Zealand, Singapore, the Cook Islands, the United States of America, and across the Asia Pacific. The ANZ Sports Technology Award recently recognised revolutioniseSPORT's excellence in its field with an ANZSTA Sports Tech Award.

Alex Mednis is the Managing Director of revolutioniseSPORT and CEO of the wider business. He is also part of the Engineering team.

In his role, Mednis has a cross-functional understanding of Pin Payments from the support, accounts, and engineering angles. His holistic perspective has meant revolutioniseSPORT can assure their growing customer base that Pin Payments is the right choice on a strategic level.

Their payment challenges

Before Pin Payments, for every $200 the club had to collect, they sent $150 to their association, the association sent $100 to the state body, and the state body sent $50 to the national body.

Across 150,000 members, relying on so many downstream operators can lead to mistakes, revenue loss from leakage, and an enormous delay in receiving payments.

While there are a lot of payment providers, very few offer split level disbursement, or even understand the concept. More often than not, when approached by a payment provider looking to integrate, they leave more confused than they started!” explained Mednis.

The solution

Pin Payments have been willing to help us scale as a business. When we first came onboard, the Director of Sales Chris Dahl was our first point of contact. Chris understood the volume opportunity of revolutioniseSPORT and helped to create an onboarding process that worked for us and our customers. Being able to meet in person across the Pin Payments teams in Melbourne and Perth has been critical to building our relationship.”

We use a customised onboarding process that is driven by both our internal platform and Pin Payments, but the key feature for us is Payouts. Payouts allows us to manage the sporting ‘hierarchy’ of accounts in a way that other providers cannot.”

Being fully API driven as well, we can automate our processes in a way that requires almost no manual intervention.”

The result

The support team at Pin Payments has been phenomenal. From bringing on dozens, to hundreds and now thousands of merchants a year—they have helped us diagnose issues, rearchitect our own solution, explain industry standards and terms to us in a way we can explain to our customers, and have given us confidence in their stability and ability to continue to scale.”

We have been able to scale online payments seamlessly, with a partner that understands our business and doesn’t treat us like a number. We’ve been able to solve challenges together, understand a part of the financial services market in which we previously did not have the experience, and plan for a future in which we continue to scale.”
