How can I just authorise a card?

Authorising an amount on a customer’s card holds the funds for you, making it available to be captured at a later date. If the authorisation isn’t captured within seven days, the hold expires and funds released for your customer to use again.

Authorisation for a manual sale

When creating the charge from your dashboard, click the ‘Show Advanced Options…’ button that will reveal an option to ‘Authorise Only’. Select this to only authorise the funds when you click ‘Create Charge’.

Authorisation with API

When creating the charge, you’ll need to set the capture parameter as false.
